After finishing Salaah, some people sit for a while and before getting up, they perform one Sujood

Question 462: After finishing Salaah (Prayer), some people sit for a while and before getting up, make one long or short Sujood (prostration), without Tasleem (salutation of peace ending the Prayer). What is the ruling on this Sujood?

Answer: This Sujood has no origin in Islaam and must be abandoned, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Anyone who does an action which is not stated in this matter of ours (Islaam) will have it rejected. The prescribed Sujood is Sujood-ul-Tilaawah (Prostration of Recitation) when the reader of the Qur’aan comes across one of Aayaat-ul-Sujood (Qur’anic verses of Prostration), and Sujood-ul-Shukr (Prostration of Thankfulness to Allaah) when one is blessed or relieved of some personal burden or one which affects all Muslims in general..read more here.
