Merits of Tawheed:

Tawheed (belief in the Oneness of Allaah/ monotheism) is a word for which the heavens and the earth have been established and upon which Allaah has originated all His Creatures. It is a word upon which the religion has been founded, the Qiblah (Ka`bah-direction faced in salaah) has been assigned, and for its sake the swords of Jihaad (fighting/striving in the Cause of Allaah) have been unsheathed. It is the greatest obligation which Allaah has imposed on all servants. It is the Fitrah (innate pure nature) for which Allaah created all people and it is the key of His Worship to which He invited the nations through their Messengers. Thus, it is the word of Islaam, the key of the abode of peace, and the foundation of obligatory and supererogatory acts. Anyone whose last words are: “Laa ilaaha illaa Allaah (there is no god but Allaah)” shall enter Paradise… read more here.

O people, I exhort you to have Taqwah and to fear Allah (Exalted be He) as He should be feared by obeying His Commands and avoiding His Prohibitions, to be truly those people who fear Allaah.

Eeman is a great blessing that Allaah confers on His Believing Servants:

O Muslims, Allaah (Exalted be He) grants the believer, whose heart is enlightened with Eeman (Faith/belief) and whose chest is expanded to accept Islaam, a source of light to discriminate truth from falsehood, guidance from misguidance, and to see how great Allaah’s Blessing on him is. This blessing entails extending thanks to Allaah, because thanking Allaah (Exalted be He) yields continuous and everlasting blessing. And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: “If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allaah), I will give you more (of My Blessings); but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily My punishment is indeed severe.”read more here.

Introduction by the Muftee

All praises and thanks be to Allaah, the Lord of the creation. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). All praise is due to Allaah, the Source of Praise and the Praiseworthy. Praise be to Allaah who raised high the position of knowledge and its outstanding figures, clarified the rites and rulings of Sharee`ah (Islaamic law), sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) to invite to the way of truth and guidance, and made others follow their example. He (Exalted be He) provides every period of time with a group of the people of knowledge, who guide those who go astray to guidance, endure harm patiently, revive the dead faith of people by the Book of Allaah, and guide the deviated ones by virtue of the Light of Allaah. How many people were overcome by Satan but they helped and revived them, and how many stray people did they guide! How great is their impact on people and how evil are people’s acts against them! They protect the Book of Allaah from the distortion of the extremists, from the falsehood of the false mongers, and from the misinterpretation of the ignorant people.

I testify that there is none that has the right to be worshipped but Allaah, Who has no partner. He exalts in degree those who believe and those who have been granted knowledge, whom He made God-fearing people and entrusted with bearing witness to His Tawheed (belief in the Oneness of Allaah/ monotheism). I also bear witness that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger, the most aware of Allah among the creation and the most righteous and God-fearing person. He was sent with the straightforward and last religion. Thus, he raised the status of knowledge and gave preference to the scholar over the worshiper. May my Lord’s Peace and Blessings be upon him, his family, his Caliphs, all of his Companions, and those who sincerely follow in their footsteps and adopt their way of life until the Last Day.

To proceed:

The graces that Allaah bestowed on me are countless and I cannot enumerate His Praise. Among the great graces, magnificent bounties, and honorable gifts that Allah facilitated for me was contact with and close proximity to His Eminence, Shaykh `Abdul-`Azeez ibn `Abdullaah ibn Muhammad Aal Al-Shaykh as I benefited so much from his knowledge and high morals. Indeed, his knowledge and morality were so great that so many benefited thereof, and they were ever-abundant. Glory be to Allaah, the True King, the Bestower… read more here.

Preface by His Eminence, the Muftee

All praise be to Allaah, may Allaah’s Peace and Blessings be upon His Servant, Prophet Muhammad, the most honorable of all Prophets and Messengers, and upon his family, his Companions, and those who follow them righteously until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed:

It is a fact that the merits of the day of `Arafah (9th of Dul-Hijjah) are great. It is the day when the Muslim Ummah (nation based on one creed) obtained superiority and honor over all Ummahs, as Allaah revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islaam as your religion. These great words were revealed to Prophet Muhammad while he was in`Arafah on Friday.

Some followers of other religions observed this great merit, for example, the Jews: A Jew said to `Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him): “There is an Aayah (Qur’aanic verse) in your Book; had it been revealed to the Jews, we would have taken the day when it was revealed as a feast.” `Umar said: “Which Aayah?” The Jew said: This day, I have perfected your religion for you Then, `Umar said: “I know the day when it was revealed and the place where it was revealed: It was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon  him) while he was standing on [the mount of] `Arafah, on Friday. Both of them [i.e. the Day of `Arafah and Friday] are Islaamic feasts… read more here.
