The duty of a Muslim in Jaahilee (irreligious) societies

Question: What is the duty of a faithful Muslim who lives in a Jaahilee (irreligious) society where no religious scholars or Islaamic movements exist? He cannot compare between the existing religious groups to know which is adhering to the Qur’aan and the Sunnah and which is not. So what is the role of a Muslim feeling such helplessness while living in a wolfish world?
