Writing an Aayah and wearing it around the upper arm

Question: What is the ruling on writing an Aayah (Qur’aanic verse) and hanging it around any human part; the upper arm for example, or rinsing this writing with water or the like and then using this water in washing the body? Is this an act of Shirk (associating others with Allaah in His Divinity or worship) or not and is it permissible or not?
