Slaughtering in the Name of Allaah to feed guests or relatives

Question: Slaughtering animals for the sake of anyone other than Allaah is prohibited and Shirk (associating others with Allaah in His Divinity or worship). What is the Sharee`ah (Islaamic law) ruling on slaughtering animals for guests or relatives?
