Breaking one’s fast deliberately during Ramadaan

Question: What is the evidence that the person who breaks their fast during the daytime in Ramadaan should offer Kaffaarah (expiation) by fasting for sixty consecutive days?

Answer: According to the correct scholarly opinion, anyone who breaks their fast intentionally on a day in Ramadaan without a Shar`ee (Islaamically lawful) excuse should repent to Allaah (Exalted be He) and make up for this day.
