Should we say anything before performing Wudoo’ ?

Question 60: Should we say anything before performing Wudoo’ (ablution) or is it enough to have the intention? Is it desirable to recite Soorah Al-Qadr: Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’aan) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). After Wudoo’?

Answer: All praise be to Allaah Alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, and his family and Companions. It is prescribed to say Basmallah (saying, “Bismillah Al-Rahmaan, Al-Raheem [In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful]”) before performing Wudoo’. It is enough to have the intention in the heart; and it is impermissible to verbally utter your intention of performing Wudoo’ because this is a Bidd‘ah (innovation in religion)… read more here.
