Saying “Basmalah” when starting Qur’aan recitation from the middle of a Soorah

Question 98: Should a person who recites from the middle of a Surah say Basmalah (saying, “Bismillaah Al-Rahmaan, Al-Raheem [In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful]”) or just say Isti`aadah (saying: “A`oodu bi-Allaahi Min al-Shaytaan-al-Rajeem [I seek refuge with Allaah from the accursed Satan]”)?

Answer: Anyone who recites the Qur’aan beginning with the middle of a Soorah should start with Isti`aadah and recite without Basmalah. Allaah (Glorified and Exalted be He) says: So when you want to recite the Qur’aan, seek refuge with Allaah from Shaytaan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one).... read more here.
