Reciting Ruqyah through a microphone or a telephone

Question 285: What is the ruling on using a microphone or a telephone to recite the Qur’aan for Ruqyah (reciting Qur’aan and saying supplications over the sick seeking healing), or reciting Ruqyah over a large number of people at the same time?

Answer: Ruqyah should be recited directly over the patient, not through a microphone or a telephone. This contradicts what was done by the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him), his Sahaabah (Companions, may Allaah be pleased with them) and their Taabi`oon (Followers, the generation after the Companions of the Prophet).
