Question 18: I have a grape farm for which I pay the same costs which are usually paid by all other farmers such as the costs of irrigation, wood, fertilizers, and workers. Should I then pay Zakaah (obligatory charity) on the grapes bearing in mind that I sell them fresh at the market without being processed to raisins. If Zakaah should be paid on the grapes; how and when should this be done? Should it be paid out of the grapes themselves or is it the value that should be paid? What is the percentage that should be given in Zakaah?
